We read every proposal and reply with a path: direct consulting, the 5-step path, or a referral to who can help best. When it makes sense, we propose a demo with your own samples.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about how projects, services and partnerships with OpenScience work. Didn't find what you were looking for? Reach us through the form above.

How do I hire a grain classification project with OpenScience?

We work with computer vision, spectral imaging and chemometrics to classify grains (coffee, soybeans, corn and other crops) by defect, type, moisture and other quality parameters. The project starts with a diagnosis of the sample and the classification criteria used today, followed by a pilot with your own samples before deployment.

How do I set up an R&D&I partnership or cooperation with OpenScience?

We build research, development and innovation partnerships with universities, research institutes and companies: consulting on analytical methods, data processing, and custom instrumentation and software development, both for joint method development and for validation and technology transfer. Tell our team about the problem and the stage the project is at.

We already have analysis data from our company. Can you work with that?

Yes. We work with existing data (spectra, images, lab spreadsheets) and apply chemometrics and artificial intelligence to extract predictive models, without needing to redo the analyses from scratch.

How can I get access to the OpenScience spectral microscope?

We offer the microscope as equipment as a service (hardware and application), with setup, installation, training and support defined according to the project. Universities and research groups can use the academic license. Tell us the problem you want to solve and we will evaluate the best-suited configuration.

Does OpenScience provide analysis and characterization services?

Yes, we offer spectroscopy services (NIR, Raman, hyperspectral imaging) and high-resolution mass spectrometry, with a technical report and, when needed, development of the analytical method itself.

Which industries benefit the most from OpenScience's services?

Agribusiness, food and beverages, the environment, clinical diagnostics and academic research are the sectors we work with most, whenever there's a complex sample and a need to measure, classify or authenticate something with traceability.

Who do you work with?

We partner with universities and institutes such as Unicamp and UFPR, as well as official laboratories and private companies of different sizes and sectors.

Do you work with clients outside Brazil?

Yes, we've developed projects and co-published with international groups. Each case is evaluated based on the need to ship samples, access data remotely, or have the team travel.

How long does a project take, from diagnosis to delivery?

It varies with complexity: an initial diagnosis usually takes a few weeks, and a pilot validated with real samples, two to four months. Custom instrumentation projects have their own timeline, defined in the proposal.

Are the data and samples we send kept protected?

Yes. We handle client data and samples under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) when requested, and the resulting models and results belong to the client.
